The White Rose of York

The Yorkshire Beekeeper

A shared identity for Yorkshire beekeepers

A Community Identity, Not a Brand

Across our historic county, beekeeping is more than a trade - it is a passion shared by thousands of members across our local associations. From the industrial heartlands to the heather-rich North York Moors, "The Yorkshire Beekeeper" is a generic description of who we are.

We celebrate every beekeeper's right to describe their origin and their craft. In the past, attempts have been made to claim the term as a private trade mark. However, under UK Law, terms that accurately describe the geographical origin and nature of a product should remain in the public domain. A beekeeper in Yorkshire is, by definition, a Yorkshire Beekeeper. We believe no single individual can claim exclusive ownership of this collective identity.

The Quality of Yorkshire Honey: Whether it is the world-renowned Ling Heather honey from our moors or the delicate wildflower forage from our valleys, the quality of our produce is a testament to the Yorkshire landscape.

Support bees in your own garden

One of the simplest and most effective ways to support pollinators is to plant for them. A well-planned border can provide nectar and pollen from early spring through to late summer.
